Design Communication I

Assignment 1: Expression in Sketching
For this week, we had to bring our own capsicum(bell pepper) and okra(ladies finger) to class. We started with blind contour drawing which is drawing the outline of the capsicum/okra without looking at the paper. Then, we continued with contour drawing. For contour drawing, we were told to draw a full pose of the vegetables that is cut horizontally or vertically. Then for our assignment, we had to draw the vegetables in 4 rendering techniques that were: hatching, crosshatching, scribbling and stippling.

This unit introduces students to the basic skills, required to visually communicate their design solutions in both 2D and 3D. Learning will be studio-based and delivered via demonstration and practice with directed and independent learning.

Objective:
Develop an understanding of the basic principles of drawing using a range of media to record and communicate visual information.

Learning Outcome:
On successful completion of this module the student will be able to:
CLO 1: Communicate design idea & process using freehand sketching & rendering techniques to signify elements of architectural sketches in expressing ideas.

Blind Contour

This was the in-class exercise we did.
